Four Easy Ways to Show Your Gratitude

It’s the holiday season and another year is coming to a close. This time of year, like for many others, I find myself reflecting, feeling extra grateful, and wanting to share my gratitude. Running a small business, it’s all about relationships, and there is no better way to strengthen relationships than to say, “Thanks.” Here are four easy ways we can show our gratitude in business, during the holidays and all year long.

  1. Handwritten Thank-You Notes – A good, old-fashioned thank-you note can go a long way to let someone know you’re thinking about them. As communications are nearly 100 percent digitized, a handwritten note really shows you care enough to put pen to paper and write to someone. As an added bonus – it generally will sit on their desk for a little while instead of being quickly deleted.
  1. Pay a Thoughtful Compliment – In public relations, something as simple as emailing a reporter to genuinely compliment a story they’ve written, with no ulterior motive, helps strengthen a professional relationship. No matter your industry, take time to share a thoughtful compliment on the work and accomplishments of employees, vendors, clients and everyone important to your business.
  1. The Gift of Time – Looking for a way to thank employees without breaking the bank? Give them the afternoon, the whole day or some days off, with pay. In a hectic world, nothing beats more free time or family time, especially when work may slow down for the holidays.
  1. Change Things Up – Instead of conducting business, make a mandatory meeting like a board or staff meeting fun. Ditch your traditional setting to go do a team building activity, share a meal at a restaurant or grab drinks at a local brewery. The time together in an informal setting will get people talking and opening up like they never would around a conference table.

As the year comes to a close, I’m thankful for you – my clients and everyone I work with in my business. I am so grateful for your support and look forward to working with you in 2018. I hope you enjoy the holidays and wish you the very best in the New Year!

My best,

Kristine
