Can you believe that 2018 is almost upon us?
As the daily grind begins to slow down a bit for the holidays – or not, depending on the line of work you’re in – the change in the year is a great time to focus on your personal and business goals, including plotting out your company’s marketing and public relations plan for the new year.
Begin by reviewing your current plan for effectiveness and efficiency. What’s working well, what could use some adjustment? Are certain activities taking up too much of your time, or are you not spending enough time on them? Are there areas where you could use a professional’s help versus trying to do it on your own? Take the necessary time to think it all through – be intentional and focused. If you need to get out of your work environment for a while – a personal or business retreat, perhaps – be sure to do what works best for you.
A few PR/Marketing trends to consider as you formulate your 2018 plan:
Social Media Remains King
Social media is no longer something you can outsource to an intern or someone not fully aware of your brand – social media needs strategy and a professional voice behind it.
Don’t Be Afraid to Boost
For people to view your social media posts, a small investment, known as boosting a post, can go a long way to increase those that see your message and create the awareness your company craves. Generally speaking, ROI is high at even a low dollar advertising investment on most social platforms. Facebook advertising, beyond boosts, can also go a long way with unique targeting of ads.
Shift to Digital and Video
While print ads still have their time and place, consider shifting some amount of your marketing budget to digital ads or consider investing in quality video production to help get more eyes and ears on your message.
One ongoing trend is a classic that never goes out of style. Professional, quality, content is an absolute must, whether that means having appealing photos/graphics, carefully checked facts or captivating copy. There’s no substitute for high-quality information presented in an appealing and professional manner.
Whatever your strategy for 2018 may hold, don’t delay. Just as successful executives give themselves planning time or hire a professional to manage their schedule, you should also invest the necessary time, attention and resources to your plan.
